Client Case Study: Diabetes can get better

  At an office check-up I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.  For 10 years I have been dependent on insulin. Diabetes was  affecting my eye sight, feet, hearing and my heart.  The doctor said I had a greater chance of dying early.  I never understood why after all this time, I was never getting any better.  I knew I wanted a change for the better!
Plus,  high blood sugar can damage your  body's organs. Patients with type 2 diabetes  do make insulin – it just doesn’t get into the muscles properly and keeps circulating in the blood,   keeping blood sugar high.  Even thought  I was fit and not too overweight, my doctor told me I could never get off the insulin.

 Desperate for more information, I headed to the web, where I found a nutritionist to help me, she told me about the new research.  This research suggested type 2 diabetes could be reversed by following a clean diet, it might be hard, but she would work with me.  In only four weeks I was off all the medicines…..

 I learned that when the body is deprived of the needed variety and amounts of nutrients, it  begins to use its reserves.  This new eating program allows the body to use up the fat that clogs up the liver and pancreas, so insulin works better,  and glucose levels return to normal.   Then the  accumulated toxins can be released from the body.   

 This diet at first seemed very strict, but I learned that this is no ordinary diet, but a  healing program, and needs to be strict to heal.
 On the first full day, I weighed 273 lbs. By the  eighth day I had lost 7 pounds, and didn’t need laxatives, insulin shots, metformin, or nothing anymore,  and every day woke up rested and energetic.

 After reaching my target weight of 190 lbs, I can  exercise with ease, and as my muscles use more energy,  it soaks up the glucose before it can be converted to fat.

 When I forgot my next appointment, the doctor’s office called - when I went in my doctor said "The diabetes has resolved itself, what did you do?."  My glucose level was normal, lower than it had ever been, and the A1C was 4.5…..
This eating program is very easy for me now, more than I thought it would be.  Drinking lots of water, eating all I want, not having to count calories or  points, no weighing food or measuring out portions,  just makes it like normal eating.   Later, I learned – this is normal eating.   "When I feel hungry, I drink  a glass of water first.

 I’m sticking with this way of eating because I really feel good, and reduced my blood sugar to a healthy non-diabetic level, and my blood pressure too has remained good for the past seven months.
I believe the key to my health is staying with this ‘Clean Eating’ program  “and not going back to the way I had been eating. “
